Konstant Architecture & Planning is a fifteen-person design firm providing traditional architectural planning and interior design services. Founded in 1980, our firm has thirty-five years of custom residential experience. Our emphasis on excellent design and attentive client service has resulted in a portfolio of projects ranging from the North Shore of Chicago, to the west, to the southern gulf coast, and into New England towns.

Our design philosophy is centered on an honest architectural interpretation and grounded in the enduring values of traditional building. Historical context, an integral relationship to the landscape, and appropriate proportion and materials, combine with the programmatic needs of our clients to create rich traditional architecture.

Using the traditional language in a way that accommodates the lifestyle of today is a challenge we welcome. We strive to create timeless architecture by balancing formal concerns with the functional needs of the client.

Along with our numerous new constructions, we have a significant number of renovation/restoration projects. We enjoy the challenge of modifying an existing structure to fit the needs of the client, in many cases enhancing or reinforcing the original form. Learning from and adding to the history of a building and its site is an important part of our practice.

Staff and Services

Our firm provides full services as needed for each project, beginning with site selection and following through with the design and construction phases of the project. Paul Konstant is the owner and founder of the Company and is closely involved with each project. Our staff is made up of eleven architectural design professionals, two interior designers and two support staff. Each project will be assigned a team of people that follows each phase through to completion. Our interior design staff also allows us to provide full interiors drawings, including material and product selections.

Client Relationships

We believe that each project is highly personal and extremely dependent upon the people involved. Our size and personnel allow for close working relationships with our clients, who ultimately are our best assets. By relying on our clients for references and promotion, we have been able to focus on the art of designing and building well. The expression of the traditional architectural language in its various built forms is the pursuit we are committed to. Our clients seem to not only enjoy their houses but also the discussion and exploration that go into them.
